Unfortunately I was not able to finish a working game as I had several difficulties implementing the features in the time given. The uploaded game is only a prototype with very limited gameplay functionality.

Below is a brief of the intended concept.

Gameplay

  • Movement of a train is controlled by the mouse keys
  • Every movement lays a single piece of track and increments the clock by a fixed time.
  • The player cannot go over tiles that have already been visited
  • The player must arrive at stations at the exact time as shown on the timetable.

Style (concept)

Minimalist subdued style, emulating common transit maps.

Colour theme (concept)

Various shades of grey are used to give depth to gameplay elements and provide a neutral backdrop.

A single highlight colour is used to give greater emphasis to important objects and very between level to indicate progress.

Highlight colours consist of soft pastel tones are chosen to give a calming and unintimidating play experience.

nice well done but could be made a little easier, instead of the player having to reach one point on time let the player go to that station in like 3:40-3:42 like way instead of 3:40

Unfortunately I only had time to make one level so I am not sure how it will work exactly without doing more experimenting and play testing.

you could use it generate levels like it spawns some stations and the amount of steps it took is the time

I was thinking of designing each level, introduce various concepts at a time and perhaps different tiles. For example: a congested line would take half the time, a high speed line would be twice as fast and so you could make strategies of how to get to the station on time.

I could generate some levels but I am not sure if I could do it in a way that all levels would not be very easy or impossible.

cool!

Can you try my game out as well, you dont have to but compared to yours mines is a terriable piece of unpolished garbage https://standardstudios.itch.io/we-were-joined-together

I like the idea but I couldn't jump over the first obstacle, keep working on it!
